Huskey Truck Tool Box

Postby mattman » 9 Jun 2009 17:09

I got a call today from a man who has a Husky brand truck bed toolbox, for which he lost the keys. None of my key blanks or extra keys would fit the lock, and I was wondering if anyone here knew what type of key blank that Husky uses on their truck bed tool boxes. It looks like a double wafer lock, and is on a push button on the side of the box. I couldn't get a picture of the lock, but here is a picture of what the box looks like that I found on the internet:

Thanks ahead of time of any help! :D

Without a picture of the keyway, it will be hard to give you a good response. I can take a wild guess and say it's an Ilco 1620 key blank, though.

I think it is on an ilco 1623 keyblank. But it's been a while since I have made a key to one of those. Is there by chance a "J" followed by three numbers on the lock. If so, then I am almost certain that it is the 1623 blank. But I haven't ever been able to find anything by those codes. Again this is from memory so I could possibly be way off.

Another possibility is Ilco 1605.

No, the code on the lock is "H700".

I looked up the H700 code, it says use an Ilco 1623 blank.

Braveheart it depends on the one you were trying to pick. The older style locks for these were typically red and single sided. Those used a side bar, just like the older single sided chevy locks. Any tension would lock up the side bar preventing you from picking it. The newer style ones are double sided and don't have a side bar. Also, the newer one normally have a key code on the front of the lock and the older ones have the key code on the cam.

There are not so many double sided wafer locks made in the US, one that could frustrate picking could be the illionis duo, not seen as much any more where Im at, and it may have been out of patent and copied by some knockoff company.

definatly the other posters here seem to have better possible info, Im just saying...
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
