Don't we have a thread that collects these stories of people who pick the lock they depend on before they even understand what they are doing.
I also pick my own lock when the occasion comes up, usually due to keys being in the wrong place/time. But I understand the lock and can rekey it any way I want, or replace it easily,
perhaps the rule should be newbies who pick locks in use should be prepared to buy the replacement and install it before starting.
