i am thinking of buying lock pick gun for my first time.
whats the difference between Brockhage BPG - 10 Vs Southord LAT - 17?
Will this work on any lock in California? Is it easy to learn?

Hey, welcome. First just my two cents, don't take offense. If you want to learn how to pick locks, you are much better off to buy a small southord set and learn with those, pick guns don't work as well if you don't know how to pick, you need to learn how a lock works, it helps alot. Second, I am from Oregon and I know most all the laws regarding picking tools in all my surrounding states, California is a very bad place to get caught with picks and pick tools, if you have this gun in your vehicle or are caught with one on you, you are in for a big fight, in California they are strict, you will be charged with burglary tools guaranteed. As for if they will work on all locks in California, yes, most, some of the time. BUT they should only work on locks in your possesion, that you own. Otherwise don't even bother.

Brockhage BPG - 10 (This pick gun can be used to open most pin tumbler locks. Some beginners report that it takes time to learn how to use this tool, but as the more they practice the faster they are able to open the lock) Southord LAT - 17 pretty much the same thing like Brockhage BPG - 10 can be used to open most pin tumbler locks
hope this helps.

I spent the extra $$ and went with the LockAid, and it hasnt let me down. It also comes with a lifetime warranty, an assortment of different needles, and its own tension wrench (that happens to be black :P ).
However... judging by your post count, Im going to recommend what I did when I started;
go to southord.com and order their "PXS-05L" five-piece pick set that comes with a booklet on how picking works. Its a great beginners set.
Good luck!

Try a manual pick first. that way you can get a feel for how it it works(binding pins and even just what the pins being moved feel like.) Also get a lock that when you unlock it, it dosen't matter which way you turn to unlock.(NO Guess work) :) Maybe even invest in a cutaway lock to help you visualize what happens when you lift a pin
