Master lock #140

Postby Buldogg92 » 6 Jul 2009 17:50

I'm not totally sure if this is in the right section because I'm new... But I need some help. I'm a beginner to lock picking and am using a bobby pin as a hook pick, and have a piece of metal that came from this type of pen Image that I am using as a tension wrench. Not very proficient tools but it's what I had. This lock has been giving me some trouble for quite some time, and I should probably be using an easier lock to start on. The first pin is a spool pin and looking at the key it's shear line is near the bottom so it doesn't have to be pushed very far. But the rest need to be pushed down most the way. And that's where I'm having problems because the slightest touch to the first pin gives it a false set and I can't push any of the pins down.

Thanks for the help.

Use that pen to write this address down: http://www.lockpickshop.com/C500.html

Then visit that link and purchase that pick set. It's affordable and has everything you need to start out with the hobby of lock picking on the right foot.

You'll thank us for this advice in about a week when you have real pick set in your hands and are busy opening that 140 over and over.

cheers,

My friend just found two #140s and brought them to me. I picked them several times with my jacknife before but I then decided to do it with a paperclip. It can be done but I suggest getting a real pickset aswell. You can get some for pretty cheap.
After you become adept at picking you might try the makeshift tools then... Just for fun.

Good Luck
