You will do best with a small, thin hook pick. Sargent locks are tight tolerances and the keyways are pretty restrictive. You need a thin enough pick to be able to manipulate the pins. Once you find that pick, it shouldn't be too hard, judging from the bitting - all the cuts are within 3 depths on your lock. Good luck!

Finnally got this cylinder open, but it still is much harder then a 5 pin which rarely gives me a challenge.Going to try other 6 pin like schalge, still need lots of practice before i try the 7 pin best c keyway i just obtained.Relax and enjoy picking...

Sargent locks with 5 pins i have no problems, but the 6 pins are still giving me trouble.Got a schalge 6 pin and i found that my thin strait pick worked very well at opening this lock many times. Tried on Sargent still no luck, did get open twice unexpectedly, but cannot sit down and pick this lock efficiently like a 5 pin lock. The second pin #7 and 6pin#4. Is locks with longer pins in the front, short in the back, harder to open then short in front, long in back?

hi luckyL, in my opinion as you said using a straight pick dealing with a longer pin in front ,and a shorter pin at the end.they are. why not experimenting it, by removing first the longer pin you are having troubled with, then pick the cyl. feel its pins as you successfully turned it. then return the longer pin and pick it again. try to use the half diamond pick as a starter and the hook type pick in finishing.goodluck
