This a good set?

Postby andieZX » 17 Aug 2009 12:58

I just got interested in lock picking and was wondering if this set was a good set for a beginner who has never even touched proper tools.

I read other posts about beginner tools, but were too expensive for my taste and wanted to know your opinions.

That is a good set, but I would personally prefer the full hook over the ball pick. You can also look at Southord's 8/11/14 piece sets, which are not much more expensive.

I have that set, and its fairly good, but you really should go for something a little better than that. Try http://www.lockpickshop.com/PXS-14.html, that includes grips which will make everything feel alot better, includes a lot more picks + you wont have to throw out the easy pickings book (its useless, and if your looking for a good guide, go read the stickies).

I allso think, that it´s better to have a couple more picks to start with. A larger half-diamond and full hook will come in handy sooner or later. Tensioners are much easier to make, so make one or two.

Or get http://www.lockpickshop.com/PXS14EZ.html it's the same kit, but comes with the throwaway book, AND it's a buck less than without the book!
