Please be more specific on what you mean by yale locks. We have traditional yale locks, yale wafer locks, yale keymark with spooled keypins ... Maybe a photo of the lock in question would help us better understand what you need to know and allow myself and others to formulate an answer to help you out.

He clearly says "Pins" not "Wafers".

On the yale padlocks, you just have to use light tension with a short hook, set all your pins front to back like normal, then go back and hit the ones that feel spongy or hard, just keep trying, in a week or less you will get it, there is only so much a person can tell you, to help you pick it, the pick is in your hands.

I have a 5 pin lock where the 4th pin is a spool and set the highest while the 5th is a normal pin set the lowest possible. to overcome this I used a long hook to feel all the pins(from the 4th to the 1st) and set them and then a small half diamond to get the 5th pin to set and viola!!!! now I open it in under a minute.... It may help you knowing which pins are long and which are short(just look at the key and examine it if you dont want to open up the lock but it helps to see where the security pins are until you get a good hang of the lock) I recommand using digital blue's guide : viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10677
and once you go through it( it may take a while) youll be opening that yale bas**rd
Cheers
