But why does everybody in every post always insist on it?

It's not like the FBI is watching us every second!

And how would you know? public surveillance is very legal, and commonly used by similar agencies. Also there is always idiots like you that come around, and get arrested picking some lock and give us a bad name. that is why we insist on reminding everyone that we aren't all like you.

I'm in my 30's. I work for a blue chip company doing serious grown up things. Yet, I can't tell people what I do in my spare time, because I then have to explain "No, no.... I'm not a criminal.... No, I don't want to steal things.... No, I won't touch your office door, you're still going to have to call Security to get let in if you forget your keys.... No I don't think I'm a jewel thief... No... seriously, it's not just a bunch of dorks.... Listen, regular people do this too.... Look.... just forget I mentioned it. Please?"

You're not going to "win some bets with your friends" or impress girls. Or become a secret agent. If you're lucky, you'll have some fun and not be accused of being up to no good.

Am I getting through to you?

Dimple locks, are pin tumbler locks, so they were mistaken. If it is an abloy type disc lock, then that key wouldn't have dimples. If you could take a picture of the lock, that would be a great help.
