150 series combination lock

Postby Cambronze » 17 Sep 2008 9:56

Hello everyone,
I am a newbie. I have been collecting different types of keys for about 15 years. Current collection approximately 700 unique types and styles of keys.

The reason I'm here now is that I have a Lockwood 150 series brass combination padlock on my suitcase handle. It has the info on the base US PAT NO 6,176,109B1. I would like to remove it and use it to deter casual opening of the zips on the case. I do not have any idea as to the combination I set in the past. This particular lock comes with the combination 0 0 0. You then unlock it, turn the hasp 180 degrees and reset to your own combination.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be appreciated

Well, you could always brute force it and just keep going through different combo. I'm not sure if the mods prefer a pic proof that the lock is yours or not.. so, I don't know if I should post anything on how to find the combo for them yet, although I will tell you that it IS on this forum already.

150 series combination lock

Postby Cambronze » 17 Sep 2008 21:30

Thanks Trip Doctor,

Thanks for the info.

I did search the forum last night, before posting, so I must have missed it.

How do I provide proof the lock is mine?

I have tried applying pressure to the hasp and rotating the tumblers to see if that helps, but no joy.

What do you suggest I search under to find the info I need?

Thanking you in advance

does that follow the master combo lock algorithm?? if so you can "crack" the combo. i have done it with an old lock i found in the basement and it isnt hard.

I don’t know the specific lock you have but it sounds like a standard “ luggage lock “, I have had the best and most reliable luck with a brute force attack.
Think of the odometer on an automobile.. set your numbers to 0-0-0 and start going through each number .. when you get to 0-0-9 the next number will be 0-1-0 and so forth until it opens. There are only 1000 possible combinations so at 1 per second you can go through all possibilities in about 16 minutes . chances are that you will find the combo long before that .

Additionally while testing the sequential combos be aware of a “ difference “ in feel , it may mean you have 1 or more correct numbers . good luck and be sure to let us know how it works out.

Well, I guess it doesn't really matter since it's a simple luggage lock anyways, therefore, onto the topic at hand :P .

viewtopic.php?t=905 (it's actually the first link that comes up if you search "sesame" decoder in google)

Latter in the posts, a user also gives a link to his site, the information he has on there is basically what you're looking for.

Anyone got a link to this lock? Googling has come up with nothing for me.

Shimming it won't work?
