How to remove a CES lock cylinder?

Postby ski3r » 21 Sep 2009 11:37

Hi!
I'm trying to remove a CES lock cylinder from a door that the previous house owners lost the keys to.
I can move the cylinder about 1-2 cm but not all the way. Any ideas how to remove the cylinder?

I'm quite sure that you need the key, as the cam is sticking out a little from the cylinder and catches on the steel plates of the locking mechanism.

Other option is to annihilate that cylinder completely or to pick it.

If you have already removed the set screw from the edge of the door, the next step is to pick the lock because more than likely the cam is at 10 or 2 oclock and stopping you from pulling the lock cylinder out.

here is a photo of a euro profile cylinder with the cam sticking out, this is what is probably blocking you.

Call a locksmith to pick it or drill it for you if you are not familiar with picking locks.

WOW! That was impressive! A new poster needing help actually took the advice given! Hell must have just gotten AC installed!

Thanks ski3r for helping to restore some of my minimal remaining faith in humanity! (Not being sarcastic)

Well, for once they posted decent pictures, and weren't asking some kind of shady question. We help people a lot on here, just not sketchy people with blurry photos of tubular locks.

Yeah, I know you do! I've been helped and listened too, so thanks ALOT to everyone who has put up with my questions and offered good advice! But, I gotta say, it's still refreshing to see it in action (on the OP's part, I know the fleet o' long timers are good peeps willing to help.) Just since I joined like two months or so ago, it's been amazing the amount of questionable first posts w/o introductions or anything where the OP gets all indignant at actual attempts to help or steer them in the right direction.

Ok, I'll stop being redundant now...

Thanks! (oh poo there I go again!)
