Kwikset Parts

When I pull a hull out of the handle with my A1 puller I am starting to get a lot of broken springs (the two that hold it in) So I thought has someone made a tool to remove these hard to pull out springs and replace with new? Or something to R/R the spring cap so it stays tight? I just feel somebody has gotten tired of this and invented tools to make it easier. And is the A1 a good tool or do you prefer another? With the A1 you don't need to remove the knob to get the Hull out.

Now if I'm useing the wrong terms here please forgive me but this is what things were called when the locksmith taught me how to do it.

I think you will just need to replace the whole cylinder (hull) with a spare if the retaining springs on the backside get too damaged.
I have never used one of these pullers in over 20+ years of Locksmithing.
I wonder if any damage occurs to the inside of the knob as well making it easier to pull out the cylinder later down the road.

I assume you're talking about the 400 series? Just take the entire thing off the door, take the keyed to the truck, and remove the cylinder using the Kwikset removal tool. Those springs are crimped on the the cylinders and are an absolute pain in the ass to acceptably replace.

Personally, I'd rather take the correct approach to disassembling them rather than the aftermarket (A1) approach. I don't feel like stocking anything more than I have to on my truck and I definitely don't want to be fooling with replacing a spring when I can just spend 30 seconds extra taking the thing off the door and doing it right.

I think the idea is for use in lockouts, not rekeys.
