Has anyone ordered from Deal Extreme?

Postby nataz » 7 Dec 2009 23:44

I've been shopping around for a specific type of tool and they have a really good price. Almost too good to be true compared to other sites. You know the old addage, if something is too good to be true it probably is.

Has anyone had any luck with these guys? They even offer free shipping.

Okay Lets try to kill this dead horse.

I have been personally using dealextreme for over 2 years now (or darn close to it) Spent about $500 USD to date, on about... oh 7 orders?

Longest I have had to wait is one month, from time of order to my door. Which, is not bad seeing as where it is shipped from, and shipping is free.

The quality of a product is not the greatest, it'll work, but if your using it all the time (lock picking tools) expect it to wear out/break.. It does work, and if your a hobbiest, go for it. (than build your own on the shortcomings you find) ;)

Had 2 replacement/refunds - if you follow their instructions and your patient, expect a replacement within 3 weeks. Normally shipped express from them to you. I was not required to send anything back- even for a refund (on a three dollar item)

Now, keep in mind- they do not normally have stock on hand, think of them more like a mail order catalogue, or a middleman. You place your order, and they collect your order and payment, than contact their (local) suppliers for product or stock. This is where you will find a delay sometimes. I have had about 4 delays out of the 7, but I still normally get my stuff within a month.

I have heard some horror stories from other members, but I am just talking about my personal experiences. If you have patience and can wait about 4-6 weeks, go for it. *just don't order the lasers if your in the US.. heh*

I've heard people have had good experiences with DX. Unfortunately, I can't join the choir.

Ordered set of picks this autumn, waited for over two months, did not receive despite several promises and had to issue a chargeback to get my money out.
So, YMMV.

My advice: be patient, don't order from them if you're in a hurry and don't order anything too expensive.

cheers.

I've been ordering from DX for years, and have had only positve experiences. Only thing is, I haven't ordered any pick sets from them (yet). They have a set under $6 U.S. which looks interesting, and I'll be sure to post up if I try it out.

Unrelated: Some of their Rubik's cubes are pretty good. ;)
