I would say that on disc systems without a disc controller, disc blocking system and the like,
the tip of the key also needs to be uncut / 0, so that you can always insert it properly, even if some discs are already turned.

To the moderators, are we allowed to discuss the destructive methods of getting around this lock or is that part of this discussion still considered advanced material?

Eyes, either way I'm assuming he would like to pick it rather than break it. So even If we told him the DE technique don't know if he would find it useful.

DE is always reserved for the advanced section of the site. I think Doug was under the impression that you were picking these locks.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Yea, i was under the impression you were picking these locks. After taking this lock apart several times, me and jgor started to get the feel for the way you could potential destructively bypass this lock. It seems that the small metal shelf that the lower pin's push up on can easily bend away if given enough force. After a quick glance this might aid in bypassing the lock but we never really attempted it. A view of the metal shelves that i am talking about can be viewed here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v375/ ... sk6smt.jpg
from zeke's photos.

As long as this threads title is about the smartkey, does anyone know where to get a exploded diagram of this lock that names each part of it inside and out? I looked in the Kwikset website but didn't find it.

This may help. But it will probably be a lot of reading/searching to find what you are looking for. http://www.google.com/patents/about?id= ... +rekeyable
