What Lock?

Postby narwhalman » 8 Jan 2010 12:52

Hello, two days ago I bought a padlock from CVS. That lock no longer provides any sort of challenge for me I was wondering what lock I should graduate to from here. I looking for a lock that I can practice on for a while because I am a newcomer to lockpicking.

Try a Masterlock No. 1 or No. 3. If you get bored with those, there's always a Kwikset or Schlage houselock.

I went to a Habitat For Humanity warehouse and they sold me 15 different dead bolts and keyed knobs with no keys for 4 bucks. they are a bunch of no-name, schlage, amd other name brand with a good assortment of security pins. look for one of these shops or a thrift or goodwill shop.

Just don't accidentally buy a Kwikset SmartKey for your first knob or dead bolt practice lock. That thing is a tricky bugger to pick.

I bought a couple of cheap kwiksets last time I was in the US. It took me longer to get them out of the shrink wrap, than to actually pick them.

Also try Kwikset or Schlage, master locks they would give you a good challenge
after that go with american padlocks and
Brinks Shrouded Padlock this would keep you busy for awhile
hope this helps.
