7, 8, 10 pin tubulars. What's usually used on what?

Postby bukujutsu » 6 Mar 2010 15:38

I recently bought a like new southord 8 pin set and I'm interested on trying it out on various locks, with the owners permission. I suppose vending machines are the most common and interesting things to pick. What type of lock is usually used on them? What are the other style of locks used on?

Also, I know that the 8 pin pick also works on offset 7 pin locks, but can it be modified to work on 7 pin centered locks?

I did search and read quite a few topics, but couldn't find what I needed. I've also asked on other forums. I'm not new to picking, I started out with pin and tumbler locks and a southord 14 set .

High security locks (including vending locks) are not discussed in the public areas of this forum.

You are also asking us to give you information when it is blatantly obvious that you don't own any to practice on. And no one in their right mind is going to let you mess around with a perfectly good lock that's currently in use.

Ba humbug.

Okay, scrap the vending machine question. I will buy some locks from ebay to practice on.

I'd still like to know what's usually used on what.

Sorry. I don't understand.

Can't one just learn from direct observation what locks are used where ?

I sense one may be trying to rush things a bit. What is need to hurry and get the information ?

Don't take this personally, but this sounds a bit dodgy.

Deffinately does. You must understand that these locks as you already stated are mainly used on vending machines and other places with a similar sort of purpose.

I can say with reasonable confidence that if i understand your question correctly, you wont be getting an answer on these forums.

If however we are misunderstanding something then please re-word your question, as its a little confusing and if its reasonable we will do our best to help you...... Its just this sounds like you want a list of everything that this lock is used to protect and everything your new tool is able to open.
