Need Help with Floor Safe

Postby FishChase84 » 3 Apr 2010 11:21

My Mother just had a flood in her house, and when we were replacing the carpet in her bedroom closet, we found a floor safe in the corner of the closet in the slab.
There is no model # or manufacturer, just a serial # of 210395

It spins around, but there is only a handle and a metal disc w/ 2 holes that can be pushed down. There is no dial to enter a combination.

How can we find who manufactured the safe and what will be the best way to get it open? My Mom would like to use it in the future, so we didnt want to break it.

Thanks for your help

I'm not an expert in floor safes, and can't think of one with a keyway like the one you describe (metal disk with two holes)... however, unfortunately, any discussion of safe opening is restricted to our Advanced forums.

I'm afraid that the only answer that people will be able to give you here is to contact a competent local locksmith: they should be able to help you out.

+1. Safe opening isn't something I would want to try myself. Best call someone who specializes.

[edit-unlisted]

It would be a bit pricy to get it open, but the locksmith may be able to repair [edit-unlisted] or replace it upon opening, and it should be a bit cheaper than buying a new one, breaking through the concrete and installing.

A good locksmith can open this in a short time and repair it so it is usable again. Do not play around with this one. Let a pro do it.
Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool. Wisdom is not just in determining how to do something, but also includes determining whether it should be done at all.

Options at this point:

1. Take a very long and expensive locksmith course that specializes in safes.
2. Call a locksmith, and have them do the work for you.

Good luck.
