Security pins

Postby Kasmd73 » 17 Jul 2010 14:29

Hello,
This is my first post, I've been locksporting for several months so I'm still very new to this. My question for anyone who can help me is I've been trying to pick Master lock #140 for close to a month trying every day with no success. I know it has a security pin in the third position and I'm not sure but possibly one in the second position. I successfully picked two Brinks locks that have spool pins, I believe the 140 has a serrated pin. I can get it to false set (plug slightly move) but can't get it open from there. I tried feather light pressure, relieving pressure when it false sets, raking, single pin picking, pretty much everything I can think of. Does anyone have any knowledge with this lock and possibly what I'm doing wrong? Like I said, I'm new so any advice is much appreciated. My pick set is a Southord slim 14 piece. I have a collection of 16 locks with two that have security pins (not including 140) and can pick all of them without terrible trouble for some of the more difficult locks, the only one in my small collection that I absolutely can't pick is the Master 140 (good lock!)
Thanks, and great web site!
