If this is just a one-off thing, and I have a feeling it is, then picking the lock isn't really the way to go. It'd be like taking a course in evasive driving so you can back down the drive. If you don't have the time to learn picking then I'd suggest just breaking it off. They're not expensive locks to replace... what is the situation, and how did you lose the key?
