Need help picking an older style lock.

I have this lock on my bedroom door that I never use, and I would like to start using it. The only problem is I have no key. I've been attempting to use a button hook pick, but being the amateur I am, I am not having much luck. I'm going to post a link to a picture. As you can see, it has a switch at the top that locks/unlocks it. What I'm basically asking, is for a little help in the form of tips, tricks, links, whatever it may be.

That's because it's a mortice lock which uses a series of levers and a sliding bolt. Each lever must be raised to the correct height to allow the bolt to pass through... you won't pick one by just jamming a button hook in there and wiggling it around. Since you already have it out of the door, take it apart and have a look at the insides - you'll see what I mean.

If you wanna start using it, I suggest you take it to a locksmith and have a key made, or just purchase a new lock (which would actually work out cheaper).
