there are cheap sets of locks at both "home depot" type stores and re-store. every once and a while a locksmith could offer you some cheap, old, used, keyless locks. i suggest buying a not too expensive set online to start out, it will give you a perspective on what kind of tools you need for what kind of lock. then it's on to making some personalized tools for yourself. there are so many similar threads on this forum, it would help you bunch to just search for discussions on good pick sets and techniques, or even cheap locks. have fun picking.
