Change key for S&G 8088 combination lock

Postby sirjimed » 12 Nov 2010 20:07

Hi folks,
I'm new here, but I did manage to open an old S&G 8088 lock that was given to me as a child. It was new then complete with instructions and change key. Kids shouldn't play with stuff that that without adult help, but I did. I tried to change the combination and botched it, somehow. Until today, I haven't seen that old lock open in 42+ years. The change key hole was open and I learned all I needed to know from reading recent posts on this forum. Thanks guys for your help. Now, I 'd like to find another change key and finish what I started over 4 decades ago. Will a 8077 key fit a 8088 lock? Where could I find the right change key? Thanks again for your help.

Perhaps this (http://www.wheelpost.com/Documents_PDF/ ... ctions.pdf) could be of some assistance. There's a drawing of the key--it might be possible to find other information and file down/machine your own.

Check out this post where someone made a change key out of a nail:

If you don't want to buy one, might be something to try.

Good Luck,
Ed
