WKS alpha key?

Postby Tschichold » 13 Jan 2011 13:54

Hi

Bit of an obscure question but help greatly appreciated!

I've got a key that is apparently for a lock (that I can't reach at the moment - surveyor coming round tomorrow!). I want to be certain that it's the right key for the surveyor.

I've attached a picture of the key - it's inscribed "WKS alpha". The lock itself looks circular from what I can make out.

Do you think it's possible that this is the correct key for this lock?

Many thanks

T

WKS make pretty generic pin tumbler locks in the normal formats (euro, rim cylinder, screw in etc) and often using a generic keyway very similar to Yales 1A keyway.

The only way to link such a key to a specific lock is to try it in the lock. If the lock is branded WKS, and you only have one WKS branded key the odds are heavily in your favour that they're a pair, but ony trying the key will confirm this.
