'False set'

Postby Shaun1987 » 9 Nov 2010 19:02

I have a sturdy padlock which I depress the pins off, and they are all 'set' which i see to be a false set, but then I just cant unlock it, I try releasing tension and pressing the pins one at a time but nothing works :( does anyone have any tips?

Not sure exactly what you mean... just to clear things up, you set all the pins then it drops into false but you don't get any counter rotation on any of the pins? What kind of lock is it?

I mean I get trapped on the safety pins, never mind though. Ive cracked it with the snake pick :D about time too! that was a hard nut for a nooby like me!

You would gain more benefit if you refrained from use of the "snake rake" until you can pick it with a half diamond or similar. Raking is effective, but you haven't truly "owned" it until you learn to manipulate the security pins individually and feel their feedback. If you learn to do that, you will advance quickly.
