Using a Warded Lock Skeleton Key as a Disc Detainer Pick

Postby جاناتان » 29 Jan 2011 2:08

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I am new and can't think of a better place. Additionally, I do not yet have access to the advanced section.

Has anyone here ever used a warded lock skeleton key as a disc detainer pick? I am thinking about filing down a warded key and trying it out.

I am a little confused as to the use of tension when picking a disc detainer lock, how does the tension aid it? How would I apply tension? The thought of applying tension to the first disc only would be weird, although that seems to be what is done.

Has anyone here built/jerry rigged any functional disc detainer picks? I've seen some for sale online, but am hesitant to buy as of yet.

Having a tentative grasp of the rules of the forum, I think it would be prudent to mention that I own a disc detainer lock for my own recreational security enthusiast use.

Hi Jah nah tan, welcome to the forum.

I'd avoid ruining a tool to make another one. Why don't you file down a piece of scrap metal to test your idea? This way you'll get at least one working tool

That said, disk locks are considered advanced so we are not going to discuss them in the open forum.

Cheers :)
