you have gone for the expensive option with the rb kit, as you pay £18 for poke wire, 13 for a bradawl, 3 x £7.50 for syringes, £17 for 1 x 2mm drill bit, £41 for plate.
you could have ordered kens for £60 does same job exactly , or made up your own, you could have ordered the plate the card and the lever lifters from rb for £110 saving £100 on bits of the kit that you wont use.
for 3mm bits go to city safe

it is good and looks pretty, but is expensive , i know a chap that paid £41 for the plate and made his own lever lifters from key bits, he has same success.
no one knows the boys and toys thing better than me, if you go through safe ventures, mark francis, city safe, sks , keyprint etc catalogues, i have at least 1 of every tool, i know what works and what doesnt, whats worthwhile and what isnt.
its a good kit and it will serve you well, but had you spent wisely you could have had a curtain pick, or a bs pick with a cheaper template kit for same money

i know what you are sayin pinky but it is hard at first you get all the tool catalogues and there is so much to choose i spent over £600 yesterday with sks and havent even started there so much equipment out there.
i just want to make sure i have the right equipment and enough practice with it before i go out and do the job.dont want to make a fool of my self .
one good thing is while im still workin full time i can i can break into locksmithing gently just struggling with the time to practice" the wife thinks ive moved into the garage" because since i came home of your course thats where i spend most of my time ive mortice locks and levers all over but it does make it easier when you enjoy it at the moment i do have the luxury of calling it my hobby although an expensive on but i will get there.

you was good on the course, about half the room can make it , the other half are always dreamers, once they realise its tougher than buying a film type paper clip that opens all they give up.
break in part time with reactfast so at least you earn a bit while you learn, its not great money but is great practice, its fine on the bench but not as good as on the door.
i know its costly but hey speculate to accumalate

drill 3mm , the extra 1mm gives you some play in order to kick wire back and get stump into get before removing poke wire.

Has anyone got any views on the aldridge "mortice picks set" which is really a drill template kit. It looks to have more drill points than the rb kit.
