Rubber Pinning Mat

Postby Eyes_Only » 26 Jun 2011 1:14

Does anyone know where you can get corrugated rubber mats (I think that's what they are called)?

It's the little black ribbed "pinning mat" that comes with the Foley Belsaw course. I need one that is at least about 6x6 inches.

cheap after-market car floor mats are available that are just a big piece of plastic with a ribbed surface.

Carpet runners are available at the local big box hardware store that come on a big roll and are cut to length. Same ribbed surface.

I've tried both because I think the lab pin mat shown above is really hard to use. Once pins get into the mat, I have a hard time getting them with tweezers.

I had the same problem with the ribbed plastic, the grooves are too deep and not enough room to get tweezers down in the grooves next to the pins.

I am with maintenance guy, mine comes from and old toyota cressida floor mat, its so useful for the groove are lined perfectly and the depth is just half the standard pins dia. the rubberize mat is very flexible. and easily cleaned.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think I found a site that sells what I'm looking for. http://www.floormatcompany.com/fine-rib ... -p-30.aspx

I'm actually have that LAB pinning mat but I'm trying to make a smaller custom pinning tray and that's why I was looking for the corrugated mat.

@Eyes_Only:

That looks very similar to the material used on AV carts to provide a non-slip surface so that loose equipment not bolted to the cart wouldn't move around during transport...

Yeah exactly! At my school they were using these mats on the carts that carried all the projector type devices.

I use the lab mat, I really liked it but got it as part of a bulk order from the states.
My only gripe is the lack of extra pin slots for pinning more complicated high security locks.
