Padlocks that are too tight to accept a shim.

How does one open a padlock that is machined so well that it will not allow even the slimmest of shims to enter? Is there any hope of getting them open? Using tools or some technique? THANKS!

Be Well!

It sounds to me like your only option is to pick it, in which case tools and technique would be required.

As man plans, God laughs.

@smhatter:

That would be too messy...

A surgical clip of the snips or a kiss of flame would do it if you can't pick a padlock...

We need more info man... what model and brand of padlock? Can you post a pic? Some padlocks have ball bearings and cannot be shimmed. And the hope of getting a lock open that has a tight shackle opening is to pick the lock cylinder, not to shim it.

True, but fun has to be considered too. Where are your priorities?

When you not only want the lock off, you want it gone. Awesome.
