Help with a storage unit disk lock

Postby legacycf » 13 Dec 2011 18:03

My mother passed away recently leaving much of her stuff (including important documents) in storage units. We found the key for one storage unit, but cannot find the other. the owners of the storage lots want to charge 50 dollars in order to get the lock removed. Since we own the lock, i was hoping someone here would be able to give me some tips on how to pick the lock.

hiring a locksmith was going to cost even more money, and I just can't afford it.

There's no model number or anything on the lock, it just says HARDENED across the top, which i assume is the brand name.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm very sorry for your loss; these can be overwhelming times, with a thousand things that suddenly need to be done... when you're rather be spending some time just thinking about your mother. :(

I'm also very sorry that we're not going to be able to help you much with your request. I'm sure your intentions are good, but posting tips on "how to break into a storage locker" is something that's eventually going be misused by someone else who's up to no good and stumbles across this thread while searching on Google.

If cutting the lock off yourself isn't an option, then paying $50 to have someone else remove it is, unfortunately, probably your quickest and cheapest option at this point.

Again, my condolences for your loss.

Oh, oops. I can see where that might be a problem. Well thanks for the nice and quick reply. Guess i'll spend some more time looking for her key.

Again, thanks.
