Is this common with some padlocks?

I have this padlock, the brand is drawbridge, and I have no problem picking it, but I have to set all the pins in place first, then release the tension a little bit so the 1st pin *front of the lock* comes back down, then I have to pick that pin again and once I do that I can turn the cylinder , and the padlock opens

It may be that you accidentally overlift that pin, or you'd be forcing in to set some pins which aren't properly binding, or a number of other reasons. Are you SPP or raking it?

Really, every lock is different and we know nothing about yours as of now. It'd have security pins, have dirt or rust in it and loose tolerances

Well the only time I have really noticed it , was when I was raking it, and then I would release the tension a bit and the front one would come back down, then I would SPP that one then it would unlock
