Info, on Acme Code Cutter

Postby RonzoB » 29 Jan 2012 22:07

Hi: Just found this forum, and have been involved in locksmith work on and off since the 1970's.
I am looking for any information on how to obtain a replacement rotary file for an Acme Code Cutter. Manufactured in Colorado in the early 70's.

I have no cutter on it now, so have no numbers or reference to go by.
Machine was in storage since mid 80's with tons of other locksmith stuff, and now I woiuld like to start using it again.

Any information on this machine, or obtaining a replacement cutter would be greatly appreciated.

The Acme key machine was made/sold by Dire's Lock and key if I remember correctly. They are still in business in Denver, but I don't know if they still handle the machine and/or parts. I have an Acme, but I haven't used it in years. It comes with a motor, but also comes with a crank that fastens to the drive pulley. The unique thing about the Acme was that it was a code machine, that used different code wheels that easily connected to the machine. I started my career in locksmithing cutting keys for Gm and Ford by code on this little machine. The machine came mounted on a portable base, and was kind of handy back in its day.
Maybe someone else can fill in more info- one of the moderators is in the Denver Metro Area, I no longer reside there, I am now in South Ill.

Hi All: Found a rotary file for this old machine. When I bought it in the 70's, I also
bought a spare cutter that I forgot about.
Its been buried away with tons of Locksmith stuff since the 1980's, and while
digging through I found it.
To me it was like hitting the Key Machine Lottery. :D

The cutter is a 9-9RF

Thank you for the help anyway.
