How do I change my passcode on a digital lock?

Postby pualsline » 22 Jul 2012 16:12

so recently I bought a new house. This house came with a digital lock on the front door, but there are several agents and other people that have the combination to this doorlock. I called the people that sold the house to me and they said that they didn't know how to change the code. So I then decided youtube could be a good source of information. Well, youtube explained that taking apart the lock and getting the blue and red pins then exchanging the around will change my passcode.

So I took the lock apart, but there were no pins!

While I had it apart I though I would try to find a serial number or company name. Still no luck. It took a few minutes of searching on google to find a picture.

so my questions are how do I change the passcode? If you don't know then can you tell me who makes this model of a lock?

Thanks in advance

@pualsline:

You had to look on Google to find a picture of the lock installed on your door ?

Sorry, something doesn't add up about this, you could have taken your own picture of the lock on your door and posted it somewhere... This scenario just doesn't smell right...

Call a locksmith to see if your keyless digital combination lock can be serviced or if you will have to replace it...

holy crap I didn't think about how suspicious this would sound. I did the google search by picture because I was hoping that if I found a picture of it I could identify the type of lock that it was.

So to show you this is my house I took a picture of me holding a card with my user name next to the lock.

Here's a video on installing and programming your lock:

Here is the manufacturer's website: http://www.anacondatools.com/servlet/StoreFront

Looks like an old Weiser powerbolt that has had the deadbolt replaced with something like a defiant or brinks.

Good find, but i am troubled by the suggestion in the video to loosen screws if the lock doesnt work properly. This shows that the installer or narrator is obviously not a locksmith or trained in proper installation techniques, rather he is trained in how to cut corners.

A professional installer will never tweak this way, they will fix it correctly.

It would help if you continued that sentence with the correct way so we can all learn. I've installed a box store purchased Schlage in a residential door before and if you over tighten, sure enough it is difficult to throw the bolt, I untightened the 2 screws holding the deadbolt halves together a little bit, maybe half a turn, and the lock is still on the door securely, but works smoothly now. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Thanks for any details you can share,

Thanks for the help I got it changed. My new passcode is...well, that's not important, but the key is that I got it changed.

BTW I did loosen the two screws and it seems to work better now than it did before and is very secure.

Thanks again for the help
