Need help

Postby Nickpick41 » 11 Nov 2012 12:29

I just started lockpicking again and now that I have a professional set it is alot easier.
I have picked many master locks, a guard security, and some other cheap lock I use for my bathroom. That being said, I'm not completely new to lockpicking but I am stuck on supposedly one of the easiest lock which is commericial master lock 5. I usually pop all locks open with my rake but I cannot open this lock no matter what I do.

I have had this lock for a little longer than 5 years and I lost the key so I cannot tell if it is me failing to pick it, or the cylinder inside of it has messed up pins. Any ideas?

There could be a number of things making it hard it pick. Have you actually tried to pick it or are you just raking the pins? I can tell you from my experience that you wont be able to open every lock just by raking. Generally I will rake with my bogota 1st, if that doesnt open the lock, I will go in with my hook or diamond and set the rest of the pins. If the lock has a high/low/high/low pin combo it can be alot harder to open with just a rake. Another thing you may want to try is pushing up on all of the pins separately and see how they act, if they are springing back etc.
