if you're breaking a wrench, you're "not doing it right" I broke every pick and wrench in my first pick set in 2005 because I was a brute with mannish hands and had no one to teach me about finesse and a light touch. That was a year before I found this forum. I suspect you also try to make the lock turn with the wrench before the pins are all at shearline. The lock will always win.

If you do go through them a lot, make yourself 10 of them out of windshield wiper inserts, or copy stratmondo's design of putting a spring in the middle so you know what the proper pressure on the wrench should be before the spring starts to bend.

HPC makes some short ones that are double sided and twice as thick as Southord ones, and then there is the Peterson pry bar which sounds like you may be needing if it isn't your heavy hand that is causing the breakages.

Good to see you around these parts, ever recover anything from your home break in?

I have about a dozen standard tension tools that I've made from metal stock (purchased from local hardware store or McMaster Carr) They are super straight-forward and I just cut and bent them with pliers. I use these when I am showing people the basics of picking because they invariably get twisted, and as soon as that happens, they lose most of their integrity and continue to get worse and worse.
Having a bunch of them spreads out the abuse.

(Squelchtone Thanks for asking, they found the guys that did the break in 4 months later when they pawned something of mine . by then almost everything had been sold off , they are still going to court ,i recovered very little .)

As For Breaking the T Tools Breaking Its usually on Deadbolt where there is a LOT of Pressure on the door and locking mechanism its self and the Lock has to be picked backwards and then plug spun , then tool reinserted to turn for unlocking , there is tons of pressure on the bolt its self .when i can i use a small screwdriver to complete this when there is Room . I do a lot of REO Work . Both the T Tools where cheap Brockhage .
the Reason i kept using this tool was it really fitted my needs ,its size was perfect and it was double tool with one side larger and the other smaller one of the sides always would fit for the job i was doing

I cant pick the lock and lift, pull, push , move the door , to relieve the pressure off the bolt at the same time . and i REFUSE to Drill the locks like most do .... Waist of a good lock :D

Any Advice on this would be greatly thanked

Roll your own like I do with windshield wiper blade metal. I usually put a twist in the sets I sell, but for personal use I like a straight 90-degree bend on the short side, which would be much stronger for actually throwing bolts and the like. Make a bunch and you won't have to worry if one breaks.
