I've been trying to open this lock for months! Sentry x031

Postby fishingishealing » 15 Mar 2013 14:47

I bought a sentry safe, about 2 years ago. It uses a key to open, but the key is quite complicated it's double sided. I have been trying to crack it forever and it's frustrating me so much. It's the Sentry x031, and I've managed to move the levers up almost to the point is should open but It's difficult due to the space constraints. Has anyone on here been able to crack it using just normal things around the house. I dont have a lockpicking set, I feel if i somehow open it with a tool from around the house it would be much more satisfying. lol Can anyone explain how the lock works? Or show the schematics or make a drawing of it? Thanks so much. I would of posted this in advanced lockpicking but I'm not allowed to post there. :(

Thanks again!

IF it is somewhat current Sentry safe, then it uses am Ilco 1626 which is a double sides key. It should have discs on one side only, but I haven't seen one in awhile. It is pickable, 90 degrees CW.

Without lock picks this job is going to be a major nightmare.

Take it to somebody who can service Sentry, there are probably lots of smiths around who can, and just get on with it.

Yep, there's a good reason for that. We only discuss safe opening, be it combination lock cracking, drilling or picking, in the Advanced area. If we just talked about in the open then while we're being helpful to you, your question and then our answer becomes an easy to find how-to for would be bad guys.

Sinifar gave you good advice about calling a locksmith. Locking this topic now.
