If they do get taken by customs, they'll contact you either by calling you or sending a cop to your door. Just tell them you are studying security or something similar, there is nothing illegal about owning them here unless you are doing so with criminal intent.

I highly doubt you'll have any issues unless you've had previous convictions or some other reason to have them confiscated.

Having said that I have hard drive (of all things) sitting in customs with a note stating they need more information from the shipper (DHL). First time I've run into anything like that but from what I understand, it should be released pretty quickly.

I haven't had any trouble with the police so I should be good with that aspect. I'm away from home at the moment (a week) so should I wait to get back or should I still order? Because the shipping might take long enough for me to get back for any possible police turning up.
I've looked at some more websites but I think Southord is still the best option.
There is one thing that concerns me though.. They say "By placing an order for locksmithing tools, the buyer asserts to be, without fraud or deception, a bonafied member of the locksmithing industry, or other qualified personnel", do they actually follow this up or have they placed this there so if they blamed for a crime they can say that they said that (if that makes sense). Because I'm neither a locksmith nor a bonafied member of the locksmithing industry and I don't want the police turning up asking for qualifications or whatever.

I doubt they call the local police with questions. How would the local police know it you are a lockie or not? I don't think either So or the local police would waste time with that.
I know a lot of people who bought stuff from SO and are not lockies just hobbyists.

You'll be fine, the chances of the cops showing up are very very very slim. As for Southord, they put that as a standard disclaimer. I purchased picks from them a short bit ago, just waiting for them to show up. Go ahead and order them before you leave, I very highly doubt it will make it to NZ in a week. Mine were shipped over a week ago and still aren't here yet. post from the states to NZ can be slow as.

I also find that in some cases, customs inspections can take as long as shipping, depending on the country.

I went to buy the picks, slim-line and with handles, including the SP-09 short hook. But I've realised that there's 4 hooks so I don't know which one is the short hook. The choices are MLS-06, MLS-07, MLS-08 and MLS-09. Can someone please help me determine which one is the closest to the SP-09 in the slim-line with handles category?
