Pins playing tricks

Postby MyHeartIsPicked » 22 Sep 2013 7:50

I'm trying to pick an Abus 65/50 (5 pin) and am having trouble with the pins, I'm not sure what type of pin they were (I'm assuming some kind of security pin) but whever I pick one pin the other one comes back up. Does anyone know how I beat them?

If you are setting a pin and then having it pop back up after setting the next, there is a chance you are oversetting pins. That will happen if you have set a pin or pins and then overset one; the ones that were at the shear line will come loose and spring back. My suggestion is to set the pins nice and slowly to avoid oversetting. Be careful to not push too hard when you are setting the pins. Using light tension will ensure you don't have to push too hard to set the pins. If and when you notice a false set, you have spool pins.
