hey my names is chris i kno how to pick and stuff and i personally think raking isnt picking? is it? and i got my southord mpxs 14 piece lock pick set to start out and i kan pick all the "kwickset deadbolts" on my doors i kno this isnt that great of a accomplicment but i was kinda proud i can rake them all in under 8 seconds but what wuld u all suggest the next lock i shuld try or lock(s) cuz i really want to get good...

I don't think you mean that, unless you are a naturist.

A receptionist at work once sent an all-office email with the same mistake, leading to much laughter and many ribald replies.

But welcome to the forum. There is plenty of information already posted about which locks are easier and harder and which ones are good to learn with. Spend some time browing and use the search button.

Can you pick the kwikset with a short hook by finding the binding pin? If you can't then get good at doing that on your kwiksets. Once you master that you should get a schlage cylinder.

With schlages it is easier to single pick than rake because of spool pins. Spool pins are security pins that play tricks on you while picking. Here is a link to how to pick spool pins.

If you get a schlage don't get discouraged on your first few picking attempts. Schlages in general are much harder to pick than kwiksets. Good Luck!

thanks guys , yeah i kan pick it with a shallow hook its not hard but imma little scared of security pins just cuz i dont really kno wut they do...also does n e one have n e idea what kinda locks r on skool and store doors im pretty sure there wafers but that wuld be really stupid on thier part?

It depends on the school, some have warded locks, some have Medeco and armed guards. As for the security pins, read the former MIT guide and read the stickies. After that, try out the search engine. If you don't find anything when searchning, check your spelling as it frankly sucks. You might want to put a little bit more effort into your postings.
Security pins aren't that much of a problem once you get used to them.

Picking school and store locks is ALWAYS a bad idea. I suggest you give the rules here a quick read, before you get yourself into trouble. Please do try to post with some semblance of reasonable typing and spelling, as some of our members speak English as a second language.

Large insitutions with large key turnover, ie Schools tend to have Interchangeable core locks, for convenience sake. Businesses can have anything, from bad Kwikset instals to Medeco Biaxials on the same door. Sometimes you have to wonder about people.
