If picking locks is where someone's interest begins and ends, I'll concede Bill's point; there's a lot more to lock and door work than that.
At the same time, I started out as a hobby lockpicker, but quickly developed an interest in the mechanics and security concerns of all mechanical/electronic door hardware. Made a career change, and while the company I work for doesn't even do unlocks, I absolutely love the work.
