My New Homemade Tension Wrenches

Postby PipeSmoker » 24 Jun 2016 21:29

I made a set of tension wrenches this evening after seeing some of the photos here on different threads.

I accidentally made the first one know nd of upside down; it blocked me from getting a pick in. So I tried again paying close attention to the direction of my bends. They are made from windshield wipers from my truck and seem to me to be some strong and thick metal!

I've not gotten to play with them yet but am excited to this evening.

The tips of the wrenches look fairly narrow, hope that they work ok. Usually I keep a lock next to the grinder when I make tools so I can test how things fit as I grind. If you ever watch the video by Eddie the Wire he takes it to an extreme and custom fits every tool to a specific keyway.

Personally, I like this sort of wrench for raking. For SPP I prefer a rigid wrench, but that is just me.

Oh, that's a great idea! I'm going to start that with my next attempt. I'll also look up that video. I've been watching some of BonsiaBill's videos (I know I got that name wrong LOL) and will add this one to my watch list. Thanks!
