I am new here, having fun learning to pick locks. As I am buying old locks for practice I always ask the seller (garage sales, flea market etc.) if they have any keys to sell. So I am acquiring a wide variety of keys as I go. The keys are all dirty or rusty and so I spray with degreaser and run threw my kitchen dishwasher, dry cycle also and then hand dry.
Some of the keys are old looking and rusty, does anyone know how to stop the rust or is there a proper way to store them so they don't rust.
I know these keys are probably low value, but it is interesting to look at various keys and eye opening to see how many things have specialized keys.
Like a Corbin key, flat, probably steel and from a furniture lock. What's the best way to keep them safe from rust and to store them?
