What is your method?

I am trying to open up a master lock that has both a dial and key Locking System. Which do I attack first or does one override the other?

If the padlock has a dial and a key, it is probably a combination padlock with a master key override. If I am wrong in this thought, please send me a PM with a picture of the lock, and I will unlock this thread.

Discussion of that kind of padlock is restricted to the advanced forums since they are heavily used by schools. We do not want bored kids to be able to use Google to find the information on this site for breaking into the lockers at school. The public forum here is searchable by Google, whereas the advanced forums are not. For this reason, we do not discuss them in our public forum.

Locking this thread until the OP can show me (or another moderator or admin) that the lock is not restricted.

Thank you,
