How do I know a dimple lock when I see it?

No real tried and true way of telling but there are a few guidelines:

  • Pins are usually larger than traditional pin tumbler pins.
  • Keyway is usually in a horizontal configuration (Sargent KESO is an exception to this rule)
  • Keyway milling, when present, will be asymmetrical.
  • Fairly wide keyways compared to traditional pin tumbler cylinders.

Look inside the lock..the pins are on the side of the keyway.
