Howdy! can u see on the cuts of a shackle of a combination lock if its ball bearing or not? like do ball bearings have round cuts? and can you shim all padlocks thats not ball bearing as long as u can fit the shim?

I believe that the Shackles used in a ball bearing type lock will have a half moon type of cut in them .. If the shackle is open you can also just look down in the hole and see whether there is a bearing there or not ..

I am not 100% sure on the shimming question because if I remember correctly there are some locks out there that are anti-shim
When I finally leave this world.. Will someone please tell my wife what I have REALLY spent on locks ...

I'm curious how many average consumer quality combination locks actually have ball bearings.

Why do you care if all of these locks are shimmable?
I hope you're not trying to shim locker padlocks at your school.

Most of the time, but not always. They are always unshimmable however.
