Is there a particular lock you are looking at that your question is about?
If there is threading or counter milling in the bible chambers, it should be a diameter larger than the diameter of the pin, but enough to get stuck stuck when picking if tension is applied.
it isn't like the pins are loaded into a lock by screwing them into the bible like a machine screw being threaded into a tapped hole made for that size screw thread.
