Stuck pin in Tubular lock

Postby Cameraboy86 » 13 Feb 2019 15:32

The bottom pin in this lock will not budge. I haven't used bruit force or any lubricant/solvent yet. Any clues or suggestions?
Also which way does this unlock (so i know which way to apply tension)

Here's a pic

Looks like a vending machine. Why are you picking it?

Since that looks like a vending machine in use, you're gonna have to tell us a little more background before we offer advice on how to pick it.

Who's machine is it, what's it in? could the vending company provide you with a key to it?

Thanks
Squelchtone

It's our company's mini golf game. The ownership switched hands and the keys are MIA
I'm basically just going to drill it out and put a new lock on, but I thought I'd give a go at picking it!

You don't learn to pick a tubular lock in one day. And since you don't have the keys, it's not a problem if you destroy the lock.

Good luck :)

So do you know why the bottom pin does not move?

Their may be tension on the core, try a screw driver in square slot, rotate left, then right, and see if all pins are springy, check with local locksmiths, or Arcade Service in your area, they may have a key? Good luck.

Since it's a lock used on vending machines, we're not going to discuss techniques to pick it on the open forum.

I think that calling a professional to change the lock is your cheapest option. I don't want to scare you, but it's easy to damage the machine while trying to open it. Then it becomes much more expensive to repair it.

Cheers :)

as admin femurat has already noted we don't discuss vending locks in public parts of the forum, but we do talk about them in the Advanced Topics area which requires special membership:

Since you do not have membership to the Advanced areas of the forum, and this thread is not posted in that special area, I'm going to lock this thread now as nothing good will come of this if we keep it going.

femurat has given you the best advice, which is to call a professional locksmith in this particular case.
