real work picking around the house with picks from wish

So I got my crappy Chinese set lots of duplicates(3 copies of the exact same hook). Crappy quality and finish . I managed to pick an end table 4 pin lock ,and a deadbolt for some reason the deadbolt was super easy felt more like some kind of a bypass than a pick. The lever handle under it was my first defeat Its an old schlage I'm not sure the key part even works we dont have a key for that. It's just old and crappy sprayed some wd40 in there messed with it for a half an hour..

The other defeat came with a office desk I can't get any pins to bind at all and it's a brand new desk

So how much better is a set of sparrows picks?

I am pretty new to this, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I also have a cheap set of Chinese picks as well as the Tuxedo set from Sparrows. The Sparrows picks are definitely better metal and are finished better. The ones in the Tuxedo set do not have plastic handle coverings though. I think it might be nice to have a more proper handle for day to day use. That is not to say that you cannot pick just fine with the Chinese picks. If they are the right shape, thickness, etc., then they are going to pick stuff, especially if you polish them up some. I cannot speak to longevity of the picks, but the Sparrows do seem more sturdy.

The biggest thing, that makes the most difference to me is that the tension wrenches that came in my Chinese set are total crap. I would hate to have to use them.

If I had it to do again (and I probably will at some point) I would probably buy a Sparrows set with proper handles. At this stage of my picking development I would probably only worry with the standard thickness ones. I think they are 25/1000, could be wrong.

Be aware of the first rule of lock picking...

DO NOT PICK LOCKS IN USE!!!

This can not be over-emphasized. There are many, many threads here of people looking for help because they messed up a lock they were picking, and now can't get into their house, can't lock a lock at work, or other such emergency.

The deadbolts were not essential to keeping my house locked up. Good to know tho don't go screwing up important locks. I have seen this said more than once

The one padlock has difficult biting #1 is a low pin and the rest are high and I have trouble not oversetting the #1 pin. It's really crap trying to feel what's going on in there I got clicks can set some pins but still can't reliably open that lock. I've got it like 3 times on accident.

The other lock seems to be to easy it feels as if there is only one pin that holds the lock shut I seem to reliably open it every time . Just cheap dollar store locks but they don't rake so well lol

I think I want to get the see thru 5 pin sparrows chalange lock so I can see and feel what's going on with good pics and good locks. Being able to rekey is awesome too.
