Jammed turned key in 10-pin dimple lock

Postby Brooco » 26 Dec 2020 15:11

Hi everyone,

I am new here, have a little experience in lock picking but now I have a stucked key in a dimple lock that has been turn 90 degrees and isn't all the way in. I cannot pull him out and cannot push him all the way in. I can turn ONLY 30 degrees in one direction, probable cause of security pin.

Do you have any idea maybe how to get it out or fully in?

thx

So I looked at the lock and key again, it seams that the key is fully in but it is stuck. Cannot get it out.

any ideas? I jiggle it, i pull it, push it, everything (maybe).

Posting a Photo of the lock in question (in its current state) will help other answer your questions.

On this picture you can see the spare key with the jammed one inside a lock. ----> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R40wen ... sp=sharing

On this one you can see the currently jammed key. ----> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RIkoqc ... sp=sharing

On this one you can see the possible clockwise rotation (around 30 degrees). -----> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RGypgK ... sp=sharing

On this one you can see the other side of the cylinder and his default horizontal position. ----> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R6bPGN ... sp=sharing

What happens if you take the key and insert into the other side and turn the lock cylinder 360 degrees?

I can put the key on the other side but I can't rotate it. The jammed key rotates the same when both key are inside.
maybe CAM jumped inside out of connection rod and can't get in correct position. :(

Is it possible to remove the cylinder from the door?

Were you trying to pick the lock on the door before you put the key into it?

Like femurat suggested if you can get it out of the door, it would be easier to work with

I can't remove the cylinder cause the cylinder CAM is in upward position and cannot get it down.

I didn't try to pick the lock, it just happened by regular usage of the door and the lock.
Guess I will call tomorrow the locksmith to fix the lock.

I am guessing key was inserted, a little turning pressure and while pulling key out, lock turned without fully inserted, with cylinder relaxed, springs put them back in their place. I would try removing cylinder, can you turn the holding piece.
Once out, you could use Pushing or pulling force while tapping on both sides. This is if pins can't be removed when dissembled.
