Can you open a lock by floating the pins in mercury or some other dense liquid that would float the pins at the shear line? similar to a bunch of bobbers floating in a pond at the same level regardless how deep any part of the pond is. I figure if mercury can float a safe then the spring pressure shouldn't be a big issue. Any ideas on the subject would be great.

This is a dumb and dangerous idea, and no one should be playing with Mercury or trying to pour it into a lock cylinder.
It would be far easier to just learn how to pick a lock with lock picks instead of gimmicky nonsense like this.
