Medeco clockwise

Postby Shinoya » 5 Sep 2022 9:46

Hi

I have picked my medeco classic many times counter clockwise, setting the key pins first.
Today I am trying to pick clockwise and setting the driver pins first. The lock has four standard pins and two mushroom pins.
When picking CCW I always get a false set on the mushroom pins.
When I tried clockwise, I don't get a false set after setting the four standard pins. Nothing is overset or underset.
Does anyone know what is causing this?

One direction you set key pins first. Other direction sets the sidebar first.

Just when you finally think you have learned it all, that is when you learn that you don't know anything yet.

That doesn't answer the question.
I did say "Today I am trying to pick clockwise and setting the driver pins first."
The problem is not getting a false set after setting the four standard pins.

Also, one direction (CCW) you set the key pins to the sidebar first. The other direction (CW) you set the driver pins first.

You don't get a false set and open the lock?
If this is the case, it's because the binding order depends on many factors. One very important is the direction, so picking it CW may make the mushroom pins less effective and you don't even notice they are mushrooms, because they are correctly set without being catch in the spool groove.

You don't get a false set and don't open the lock?
Something must be off, maybe you need to correctly set the rotation of one pin that is in a false groove or one pin isn't at the correct height.

Good luck :)

Thanks. Will try again.

When picking clockwise, the mushroom pins will be the last to be set and if they are not properly aligned with the other pins, it can cause a false set. It is important to make sure all the pins are properly aligned before picking the lock.

I realize this is an old post, but sometimes medeco doesn't truly isolate. My biaxial (ccw) will allow all drivers to be set if some keypins are in false gates.
Clockwise, I've never managed to set rotations without dropping pin 2
