able to lock but not unlock

Postby sumik » 12 Jun 2026 9:53

Hi guys currently starting picking journey.
I encountered a lock that i am able to pick really fast if im locking it, however im not able to pick it while tensioning the other way.

Are there some conclusions to make from locking it? Like if tensioning the other way the pin order is just reversed? Or any other conclusions?

Next thing if i can pick it one way can i somehow reverse the rotation and just jump over?

Can i make an imprint of a key? Since i have all pins set figure out what exact combination of hights is there? Im not sensitive enough to find out just by sliding pick over those pins.

And last if i get some security pin and need to, as they say in videos "release tension" do you just lessen the tension force on the tensioner, or release the tension on the pins by turning the core a smidge back?

This situation is why the plug spinner was created
